PSME hosts an annual early summer plein air painting retreat weekend on the coast of Maine. This retreat offers PSME members and friends with the opportunity to paint in stunning locations. The retreat builds camaraderie between those attending and is a great way to meet new friends that share the passion for painting outside.

The Pastel Society of Maine's Annual Retreat is a yearly tradition we all look forward to, and the 2026 retreat is no exception. We have made this year’s plans and posted the details below. We look forward to seeing you in June for a nice balance of plein air time and relaxed socializing. Plan to reconnect with your artist friends and enjoy shared evening meals and camaraderie.
Annual Spring Retreat 2026
PSME's Annual Spring Retreat, June 10-14, features a nice balance of Plein Air painting and time together. This year we are going down to the coast and renting a home in Cushing on the coast. The home has eight rooms, $517 for a 4-night stay (rent a room for your own or share). Whether you stay at the house or nearby on your own it is a great home to tuck away in the evenings or in case of foul weather. The registration fee of $75pp will include all evening meals.
This Civil War-era farmhouse and studio sits high on a bluff overlooking the unspoiled Georges River inspires us for a wonderful painting experience. Plan to reconnect with your artist friends and enjoy shared evening meals and camaraderie which will make this an event all can enjoy.
